My client is a privately owned NZ business with a good sense of family culture. The business operates in the construction related industry sector and has seen significant growth in recent years. The culture is one where people need to take full ownership of their role, have energy and will do what it takes to get the job done. But at the same time, the owner is someone that values his people and gives back.
The role of Accountant will be someone that can work closely with an owner as well as an often off-site CFO from time to time. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Bank reconciliations
- Debtors and allocations
- Creditors and payment runs
- Customer invoicing
- Weekly reporting
- Monthly reporting
The business is about to go through a systems change and therefore this role will be largely impacted and require someone that can roll with those changes, get involved, help out and work through many of the automation features of the implementation.
As this business is job focused, a major part of the role is to ensure that invoices are captured against jobs, allowing accurate job costing as well as ensuring the invoicing to the job is captured and reflects each contract.
To be considered for this role attitude and culture fit are imperative. You must have great attention to detail, accuracy and ability across the clerical accounting functions through to understanding how job profitability is obtained. You will need to be able to influence people in the business who are subject matter experts with technical expertise who don't always understand the impact on finance. Your personality will be critical as is your ability to be flexible, adaptable and not precious.
