My client is a privately owned NZ company operating in the property space. With just a small close knit team based in Auckland, the majority of operations are based down country but the head office is centrally located here in Auckland.
The culture can be described as one where people work hard and are driven but at the same time, its not corporate and it has a relaxed friendly and social feel.
The role of Assistant Accountant will report to the CFO and it will be small team of the two of you in Finance. As it's a small team your role will be very broad so you can really get exposed to a large variety of tasks. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Responsibility for the AP and AR functions - this is very low volume so literally takes no more than a day a week.
- Bank reconciliations
- Assisting in the preparation of monthly reporting packs
- Tax compliance - GST, FBT
- Fixed Asset register
- Assisting in the preparation of annual financial statements, including journals and reconciliations
- Other ad hoc requirements.
To be considered for this role we are looking for an allrounder who is keen to take on a broad range of responsibilities. As the team is small you do need to be someone that enjoys working autonomously and taking ownership whilst still getting the support of a practical, hands on CFO. You will enjoy being involved in a small yet sociable team who enjoy a joke. This is a professional firm but they don't like to be too corporate hence a relaxed but work hard culture is an apt description of their environment. Any working knowledge of Xero would be a distinct advantage.
