Job Classification : Finance & Accounting
My client is a privately owned NZ business which is completing a significant development within NZ which will take a number of years to complete. Due to the sheer size of the development, my client is recruiting for the newly created position of CFO to report directly to the CEO. The team are highly regarded individuals who have come together with strong commercial acumen and financial backing.
The role of CFO will be broad based but also hands on. The role will encompass significant responsibilities around facility drawdowns as the development progresses through its lifecycle. These have been set up already by the investors but as the project has got significant size and scope, the day to day management now needs to pass to this role.
You will also be tasked with significant modelling and analysis to assist the development team as the project goes through different stages. You must be able to model feasibility studies at each stage of the project with various alternatives to allow optimal decision making.
The role will involve significant business partnering across numerous parties which will include the investors themselves, the CEO, a third party management company that partners with this entity as the stages are completed and begin operating, multiple banking relationships as well as the development teams themselves.
And of course there will be the usual day to day finance requirements from preparing statutory accounts under IFRS standards, annual tax returns and tax planning, budgeting & forecasting by project stage, tax compliance and cost control. Over time it is expected that you will recruit your own clerical team to help with some of the administrative side of finance.
To be considered for this role we are seeking someone who has worked in the property industry and has experience managing the banking relationships and drawdown processes during the development phase. What is incredibly important is this is an extremely nimble and dynamic environment where the investors are looking for an agile individual who is adaptive and responsive to change. You will need to be hands on and be prepared to roll up the sleeves into what is sometimes administrative financial tasks but the next minute have the capability to be presenting to decisive business leaders who make decisions quickly. A positive attitude is essential.
