The NZ Super Fund invests globally to help fund the future cost of New Zealand Superannuation. The Fund began investing in September 2003. Today the Fund's assets total circa $40 billion.
The role of Management Accountant reports to the Head of Finance in a reporting team of six Accountants. This is a complex business with a lot of different investment vehicles, so you will be exposed to a wide variety of industries, accounting treatments and ad hoc projects.
You will be responsible for the timely preparation of monthly management reporting, provision of analysis and forecasts, risk management and the implementation of new investment initiatives. You will partner the business cross functionally and have responsibilities for:
- Providing cost allocation and reporting services for the Fund
- Provide analysis of resource allocations across the fund to ensure effective use of resources and efficient management of the Funds
- Provide financial insights into the business and investment strategies
- Identify and implement cost efficiencies around the business.
- Provide management reporting.
- Maintain technical accounting knowledge and understand their implication for the Funds.

The successful candidate will possess good technical accounting knowledge and an inquisitive mind. But what is important is your business partnering capability and your ability to relate to highly numeric, driven and intelligent front office people. If you are a self-starter, can work quickly and provide quality output, can work in a changing dynamic and like to be intellectually challenged this role is for you.
You may be a newly qualified Accountant or about to be qualified and be looking to get your first role out of the CA environment, into the commercial world. If this is your profile, you may be coming from Audit or BAS, ideally from the Big 4 or the 2nd tier firms. Alternatively, you may already be in a commercial role and looking for a new management accounting challenge. Ideally you will have a strong interest in Financial Services
