My client is a mid sized NZ business reporting into Australia. The business is circa $75M and operates in the industrial space. Employing circa 485 people the company has a down to earth culture with still a bit of a family feel. This is a newly created role to support the business growth.
The role of sole charge payroll will be responsible for the payroll function of the business reporting into the Financial Controller. The business has multiple entities and is looking to embark on some changes to streamline processes and payroll is one of those areas.
You will be able to own the project of a systems change, including implementing the automation software for time & attendance. Currently the business has relatively manual systems so this is a golden opportunity to stamp your mark, make a difference and add value. Not only does my client want you involved/driving the implementation but you also will be needing to review current business practices with a view of implementing process changes in the interim. There are both salary and wages payruns which include some more complicated areas of payroll around penal rates, overtime rates, allowances, living away allowances etc.
To be considered for this role, we are looking for an experienced payroll officer who has run a payroll function previously. Your legislative knowledge will need to be up to scratch as you will be the subject matter expert in the business. Ideally you will have been involved in an implementation previously and enjoy an environment where you can drive change. As this is seen as a critical role in the business, its really important you can communicate across the business at all levels.
