My client is a large player in their market space in NZ with an Australian parent company. The business operates in the manufacturing sector so from a payroll perspective there are both wages & salaried employees numbering circa 350 people of which 80% are waged.
The role of payroll officer will report directly to the CFO and will have two core components: Payroll (3 days per week) and HR / training.
From a payroll perspective you will have full responsibility for paying the employees, both salary & waged. The business has an integrated T&A system and operates on Chris 21. The wages are paid weekly whilst salaries are fortnightly. You will have full responsibility for payroll with backup for your holidays trained within the finance team.
From an HR perspective, the company is looking for someone who can work closely with the Australian head of HR and roll out Group policies across NZ as well as facilitate training of General Managers in the NZ business of those relevant HR policies.
To be considered for this role we are looking for someone who has done either a payroll full function /sole charge role or could have been in a managerial role looking to become hands on again. You must have full working knowledge of payroll legislation, great communication skills and a proactive approach. We are looking for someone who has proven experience in taking full ownership of a similar size payroll function. It would be a distinct advantage if you have had some experience with HR and training components also
