My client is a successful mid-sized NZ business with an enviable reputation for quality of products. The company operates in the wholesale sector and is experiencing growth. Operating since 1992 and with over 1000 staff in NZ, the company has a real family feel where work life balance and working together is very important in their culture. Based in Highbrook, the company can offer great work life balance.
The role of Company Accountant will report directly to the Financial Controller. There is a small finance team of 3 clerical staff of which you will manage one Accounts payable person. You will need to provide a supportive management style and act as the glue for the team.
Your responsibilities will include being hands on, preparing financial reports for the board in a timely manner. You will be involved in the budget process but take ownership of the tax compliance, general ledger reconciliations, fixed assets, back up payroll (which is outsourced) and ensure the business continues to have a high performing finance function.
To be considered for this role, we are looking for someone who has worked at this level, and either has some staff management or is looking to take this on, but can demonstrate an ability to bring a team of people together through your leadership capabilities. You need to show a supportive, proactive personality, be hands on and flexible but really want to take on that 2IC function for the Financial Controller. This role will suit someone who has a good amount of experience, most likely be qualified or can demonstrate having worked at this level. The team is mature so it will appeal to someone with some life experience.
